Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Question: Does weather affect the Internet service?
Answer: Not generally. Exceptions would include strong solar storms (which also affect cell phone and radio), PG&E outages and heavy rains can cause some rain fade (although minimal).
But this type of Internet does not have the same problems as satellite Internet. With satellite Internet, you have to get through the cloud layer to the orbiting satellite. If the weather is bad (e.g., storms, lightening, rain, snow, etc.) it's harder for that wireless signal to travel. - Question: It can get REALLY windy where I live. How will that affect my service?
Answer: The Internet antennas are tested by the manufacturer to endure up to 120 mph winds. And if it does move out of alignment, we will come re-align it at no cost to you. - Question: I have a granny flat (rental unit, shop, etc.) on the same property. Can I also get Internet service to that too?
Answer: Yes. It requires additional point-to-point equipment and can be setup as a shared account or a separate account. Alternatively, if that structure has a line-of-sight to one of our towers/relays, it can get its own service (if desired). - Question: Do I need a telephone line from the phone company?
Answer: No. Our service uses an ethernet cable from the Internet antenna to your router. - Question: Is it really unlimited data?
Answer: Yes! And no throttling after X GB of data use. - Question: Is it reliable? What happens if the Internet goes down when you are closed?
Answer: Yes, we boast a better than 99% up-time. Although our Office is only open during the weekdays, the network is monitored 24/7/365. - Question: If it's month-to-month service, how will I know when the prices go up?
Answer: We've been doing this since 2003, and since that time, our prices have gone up $1. The way we have been able to keep our prices from going up (despite our annual cost increases in PG&E, tower rentals, insurances, etc.) is that we continually invest in newer technology that is both better in performance and less expensive. - Question: Does the service work with DirecTV or Dish Network?
Answer: Yes. Satellite TV uses your Internet connection to play recorded shows. Just like streaming Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc., you can stream satellite TV shows.
