How do I reboot (power-cycle) my router?

The easiest way to reboot (power-cycle) your router is:

  1. Step 1: To find the router's power cord (not any of the data/ethernet cables) and unplug it. You can unplug it from the power outlet (or surge protector if that's what you're using), or unplug it from the back of the router. Some router's even have an on/off button in the back. In any event, you should see all of the lights on the router go out. If you unplugged something but the router STILL has lights on, THAT'S not the power cord that you unplugged.

  2. Step 2: Leave the power off for 30 seconds.

  3. Step 3: After 30 seconds, power the router back up..

  4. Step 4: Wait 3-4 minutes for your router to boot all the way back up.

NOTE: If you have a switch or a wifi booster/range-extender, you will want to reboot those too. ALWAYS reboot the router first, then reboot the switch and/or wifi booster after the router is back up.
