What equipment do I need to be able to stream?

In order to stream over the Internet, you need a few things:

  1. An Internet Service Plan from us that has the sustained speeds you need for the video quality you desire.

  2. A device to stream on. If streaming to a smart phone, computer, laptop or tablet, you are done with this step. If you want to stream to a TV, you either need a Smart TV or a TV with a third-party streaming device connected to it (HDMI cable). The most popular streaming devices are the Roku, The Firestick and the AppleTV. But if you have an online gaming device (e.g. XBox, Playstation), you can stream through the TV with those devices as well.

  3. Something to watch/listen to. And here's where it can get confusing and complicated. We'll help get you started, but then you're on your own.

There are free streaming services and subscription-based (paid) streaming services. Most of the major TV networks allow you to stream past TV shows for free. But to watch current/recent TV shows, you might need a subscription service. The same is with movies. There are free services that allow access to older movies (and B or C quality movies), and movie services that allow access to new releases (for a price of course).

Here are some services for you to explore:

    1. FREE TV/movies - an online remote control brought to you by DisableMyCable.com. (Some channels require you to create an account before you can watch, but it's free!).

    2. Subscription services (TV and/or movies):

      1. Netflix
      2. Amazon Prime Video (included with an Amazon Prime membership)
      3. Hulu (from AT&T) - the best for local TV channel replacement
      4. YouTubeTV (from Google)
      5. PlayStation Vue (from Sony) - being discontinued soon
      6. SlingTV (from Dish Network) - the best for cable TV replacement
      7. DirecTVNow (from AT&T) - being discontinued soon
      8. SelectTV
      9. Rabbit TV Plus
